Free file hosting services!

January 7th, 2007 Posted in Frugal Living

When I need to transfer large files, I just use my Google e-mail account and e-mail the file to myself.  This is a painless way of transferring large files, but it really doesn’t make much sense if I were to do this regularly or if I were to share the files with others.  Thankfully, there are a lot of free services out there that get the job done more efficiently.

divShare – this almost seems too good to be true, they offer unlimited file storage and say that the files will stay online forever.  It’s hard to imagine this being a truly indefinite service since they have no form of advertising.  It might be worth giving a shot in the short term since it requires no registration.

DropBoks – gives you 1 gigabyte of space to upload and store your files.

Localhostr– allows you to select a file and upload it so long as it’s less than 7MB and then you get a corresponding link to retrieve the file.
